Female Football Fives

Welcome to

Female Football Fives aims to provide opportunities for women and girls of all ages and abilities to play football. The project is set up by females and our ethos is to provide fun and social football, whilst catering for everyone.

About FFF

Created by two Nottingham Trent University graduates, Female Football Fives has already seen a rapid increase in the number of women and girls taking part with 15 ladies teams playing on a weekly basis in Nottingham over the last few years, and new leagues now planned for Birmingham, Colchester and cities across the UK.

Established in 2016 after noticing a gap in the market for social, female and friendly football we established an offer which suits all. Since our launch we have offered a wide range of football incentives for females through 5 a-side leagues, summer tournaments, girls only holiday camps, female veterans sessions and training opportunities. We are now bringing Female Football Fives to cities across the whole of the U.K.

The Team

Katie:

Katie studied sport and inclusive education at Nottingham Trent University whilst also continuing to play football. The love of the game started from six as her dad used to take her along to training on a Sunday where she continued to play as the only girl in the team for a number of years.

She is an avid Arsenal fan whose love for the social aspect of the game has helped Female Football Fives flourish. Katie's aim is to establish an environment for females of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to enjoy playing the sport she loves.

Rhearna:

Rhearna originally played both hockey and tennis at county level before her footballing experience began at secondary school in a 5-a-side format. She studied sport science and coaching also at Nottingham Trent University where through her decision to seek a new challenge she met Katie.

Rhearna is a very sociable person with a love for food. Her goal is to develop fun, safe and social environments for females to enjoy the beautiful game.

The Beginnings:

Both girls enjoyed their experiences within football at University which allowed them to meet friends from a variety of walks of life as well as giving them freedom to enjoy their weekends. These aspects weren’t as accessible after they had completed their degrees as they found there was a huge time and financial commitment to playing Sunday league football.

After much research, they were both shocked to find that there was very little available for women to play football without such commitment or joining a male league. These barriers meant they combined their love of the social aspect of the game and their enjoyment to form Female Football Fives.
