The 1 Continues Partnership with Female-Specific Performance Cricket Brand Lacuna Sports.

The 1, created by England cricket legend Lydia Greenway, is returning for a third edition this summer, and the competition has joined forces with leading female-specific sportswear brand Lacuna Sports, who will be the official clothing partner for this year’s hunt for the best female all-rounder.

Lacuna Sports will return to The 1, having previously been a partner of the event  in 2022. The performance cricket wear brand creates cricket clothing custom-designed to a woman’s body so this year’s participants will benefit from the best products available to female cricketers.

On the partnership with Lacuna Sports, Lydia Greenway said: “We are so pleased to have Lacuna Sports returning for The 1 2023. We received great feedback from all the girls involved on their kit last year, and the importance of having kit specifically suited to their bodies should not be overlooked, especially considering most female cricketers have to wear men’s cricket kit.”

“Lacuna Sports understands the needs of female cricket players and really aligns with what we are all about. Their support for the event is a great indication of their value and passion for the women’s game.”

Founder of Lacuna Sports, Leigh Burns said “We are delighted to continue our partnership with The 1 for 2023. Lacuna Sports was created as a result of the lack of suitable clothing for the wave of female cricketers taking up the sport, particularly at the grassroots level.  Our mission, with Lydia, is to champion women’s cricket beyond its current boundaries, and ensure tomorrow’s girls have everything they need to perform at the highest level.”

“Watching some of the best young female talent in the country take on the exciting competitive format of The 1 is going to be the icing on the cake of this brilliant summer of cricket and we are excited to see who will be crowned the 2023 winner.”

The 1 continues its search for this year’s number one female all-rounder after crowning Maddy Reynolds in 2021 and Rhia Sedha in 2022. This year’s competition will be held at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in partnership with The Blaze, on the 23rd of August.

Modelled on the popular NFL Combine in which athletes are put through a series of tests leading up to the NFL Draft, The 1 will challenge contestants from across the UK on the three disciplines of cricket - bowling, batting and fielding.

The cricketer to score the highest across all three disciplines will be crowned the winner of The 1, taking home the trophy and several prizes gifted by the partners of the event. All participants will be provided with custom-designed cricket wear by Lacuna Sports for the competition, so that they can feel confident and comfortable when they walk out onto the pitch, ready to focus on their game.
