Grassroot Story of the Week: Hanna Walsh, Hartpury college and Wales U18 player

This is Hanna! She’s the only girl in Wales to go from the very first year at 5 years old all the way through to senior at a club! Growing up, she played in mixed teams with boys for a long time and even played fly-half in the mixed district side up to U14. At only 16 years of age, she’s played and scored for Ospreys U18 and recently moved to Hartpury for college to pursue her dream of a rugby career. This past summer, she also represented Wales in the U18 European Touch Rugby Championship where she scored some absolute scorchers of tries and helped the team to a 2nd place! After a brilliant rugby summer, she was invited to camp in October with the Wales U18 girls ahead of next year’s U18 Six Nations 🌟

Hanna’s hard work and determination has got her a long way already, but we know there’s more to come for her. Thanks to her long time in club rugby growing up, she has been able to move on to college just for rugby. This story shows just the importance and meaning of grassroots rugby and therefore, it’s our Grassroots story of the week 🙌

We’re so happy for you Hanna and hope to see you in another Welsh shirt soon. Keep up the good work! 👊
